Recent protests have rocked Egypt.
This cartoon depicts the sentiments of those seeking President Hosni Mubarak's ouster, as interpreted by the brilliant cartoonist Carlos Latuff.

Wow! I just wrapped up an absolutely wonderful discussion on the radio!

I appeared on "The Struggle Continues" radio show hosted by Hodari Abdul-Ali on WPFW, 89.3 FM in Washington,D.C. It was his 1st "Editor's Roundtable" and I was on the show with Denise Rolark, Publisher of The Washington Informer and Ayesha Mustafaa, Editor of The Muslim Journal.

We discussed issues such as America's current political climate, the uprising in Egypt, the contentious Chicago Mayoral elections and the works and legacy of the late journalist Sam Yette. We also took calls from the public. I enjoyed it! It may be available via archive at www.WPFW.org.

Regarding Egypt, it is interesting to watch how the American media (CNN, MSNBC, FOX) is focused on what is taking place Egypt in terms of how it will effect Israel, while foreign media (Al-Jazeera, PressTV, RTV) focuses on the Egyptian people and their desire for freedom after decades of repression.

I've always encouraged you to check out other news sources such as (Al Jazeera, PressTV, RTV, Jordan Times etc.) to obtain a more balanced view of global realities. It is good to follow events happening in other lands consistently so that when something "big" happens, such as a major revolutionary protest or a despotic leader gets tossed out, it will be understood that there is a broader more layered context. A real effect generated by a real cause.

There must be an understanding of Egypt's cooperation w/ Israel in strangling the Palestinian people by preventing aid from entering, and keeping them trapped as the bloodthirsty and paralyzing Israeli military shelled innocent people during the Gaza massacre, the hypocrisy of America's backing of Mr. Mubarak and his "elections" and the influence of groups that have been growing in popularity despite decades of repression and imprisonment. In fact, I just recently heard reports of the formation of a coalition that backs Mohammed El Baradei as the new Egyptian leader, Reportedly, this coalition includes the Muslim Brotherhood.

I am including three links at the bottom of this article, two of them are letters written by the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan to former President George W. Bush, the other is a very insightful article written by economist and author Cedric Muhammad which appeared on his blog today. Enjoy!
